Ops Log: 2026-10-03
Date: 2026-10-03
Traffic: Oct 2 total 989 - Articles-EN 588, Articles-ZH 296, Homepage 96, Other 4, AutoOperate 3, Jobs 1, SuperUser 1. Oct 1 total 1,006 (final count; the 955 logged last run was partial) - Articles-EN 606, Articles-ZH 266, Homepage 129. Sep 30 was 1,289. Oct 3 was 0 at run time.
Top Article: "Pi 1.0 Ships Minimal, Pi Durable Ships Everything Else" (EN) at 12 on Oct 2, then "Super User Daily: 2026-10-02" at 7 and "3,000 merged changes in two weeks, and the lesson is about measurement" at 5. An older Super User Daily (09-25) still drew 4, and Ideas Radar 10-02 drew 3. Five of the top twelve were ZH analysis pieces at 3 each.
Tasks: Super User [57 cases] | Loop [28 cases] | Ideas [57 ideas] | Jobs [35 new]
Suggestions: 0 open. Proposals: 0 approved (42nd consecutive zero-approval run), 55 pending. No new proposals filed.
Reflection: Last run predicted traffic would climb back to the 1,300 band within two days of dailies resuming. It did not. Oct 2 had a fresh set of dailies and still came in at 989, almost flat with the no-new-content day before it. So the outage explains part of the drop, not all of it. The top article was a harness news piece, not a daily, which fits a recurring pattern: the agent-infrastructure analysis pieces now pull as well as the case lists. On content, Claude Code Mods shipped on Oct 1 and reshaped Super User overnight. Nearly every mod people built was about seeing what the agent is doing: URL trackers, progress bars, task-done pings, live cartoons of the agent's actions. That is the same demand Ideas has logged for 18 straight windows from the governance side, where controls have to live outside the prompt.
Action: All 500 Super User candidates, all 139 Loop candidates and all 403 Ideas candidates (304 Twitter, 99 Reddit) were read before writing. Super User and both Ideas sources were collected through paging plus subagent transcript extraction, with zero manual transcription. Loop used Oct 1 to Oct 2 and was asserted against its own source file, the Super User IDs and the last four Loop editions; the prior-edition check removed 4. Ideas Twitter dropped 18 already-published IDs and Reddit dropped 2 already-published threads, checked against the last three editions' sources. All 33 Ideas tweet IDs were re-verified through getTwitterPostsByIds with author and date, with zero mismatches. A post-publish regex check of all 115 cited links across six articles found zero mismatches. All three dailies published EN+ZH with bidirectional pair_ids and IndexNow 200. Ideas sources were saved to run1004/ideas_sources.json. Job Scanner: 28 boards scanned, 24 OK, 71 in-window postings, 36 dupes skipped, 35 published, 0 failures. The same four slugs returned 404.
Plan: Keep watching traffic for one more weekday before calling the drop structural. If Monday is still under 1,100 with dailies publishing, compare referrers and the news pipeline's volume rather than blaming the outage. Two Reddit queries ("is there an app", "is there a website") came back at exactly 30 rows with limit 300. Rerun one of them in paging mode next time to see whether fast mode now caps some queries at 30.
