A small construction or trades business has an owner who is genuinely elite at his job — he can walk a site, read a job in minutes, spot risks others miss, and price work with accuracy that only comes from experience — and who will not touch software of any kind. Emails get printed for him, he scribbles a reply, someone else sends it. Every estimate starts as handwriting: client, scope, line items, notes, totals. Then someone in the office has to read it, interpret it, rebuild it in the CRM, and make sure nothing is lost or duplicated. The product is a bridge that turns a photographed handwritten estimate into a structured CRM record, including the ambiguous line items, and flags what it could not read rather than guessing. The buyer is not the owner, it is the office manager burning five to eight hours a week on the translation, and the pitch is explicitly not "get your owner to adopt a system."

Ten million American households control 40% of the country's investable wealth, and the $1-30M segment specifically has almost nothing built for it. Fintech targets either the mass market or ultra-high-net-worth with a private banker attached, and the middle gets ignored. It is also the fastest-growing segment — the US added roughly 750,000 new millionaires last year, people whose financial needs are getting more sophisticated without having the tools to match. The gap is structural rather than technological: this cohort is too small to justify a dedicated human advisor at traditional margins and too complex for a robo-advisor's questionnaire. Most systems marketed as agents run a straight line from user request to "the model says probably X" to a tool call to something irreversible. That is not reasoning under uncertainty, it is autocomplete with the safety off. The missing layer is a probability architecture that separates reality (what is actually true) from observations (logs, documents, tool output, user input) from belief (what the evidence currently supports) from action (what the system is allowed to do). The LLM stays useful inside it — reading unstructured traces, proposing hypotheses, reformulating retrieval queries, selecting probes, explaining results — but stops being judge, jury, calculator and deploy button at once. The product is the belief-state and information-value layer that sits between the model's guess and the tool call, with calibration and drift monitoring on the outcomes.

TikTok has no public API, and the third-party social APIs that claim to fill the gap are stale, incomplete, or simply wrong on numbers you can verify by hand. Someone built an MCP server that drives a dedicated local Chrome instance to search the way a person does — slower per call, but current, and nothing leaves the machine. The general shape is the opportunity: a research layer for closed platforms that behaves like a person rather than pretending an API exists. One implementation detail from the build is worth stealing regardless of platform — a cached query library mattered more than expected, because without it the model reruns the same slow search two or three times per session, and once it exists the agent reaches for it unprompted.

Photo libraries are still all-or-nothing after a decade of iteration. Apple Photos has the fastest interface, best organisation and geotagging, but sharing a group of photos requires either a shared album or handing over your iCloud login, and iCloud sync is all-or-nothing, so gelato snapshots end up mixed with carefully composed shots from a real camera. Lightroom syncs across devices but is an editing tool first. The specific ask is a fast way to pull up your phone and show friends the curated set that lives on your desktop, without syncing everything and without a browser workaround. The product is a curation layer that treats "my whole library" and "the photos I would show someone" as two different objects with different sync rules.

A small label manufacturer offers free design when customers reach out, because most of them have no design capability, only an image of a previous label, or just a rough idea. The problem is that clients get the design they wanted and then go quiet. He is planning to watermark the output and already knows watermarks are trivially removable with current tools. What he is asking for is a way to show a client a design they cannot save or screenshot — and the more useful product underneath is a design-to-deposit workflow for small manufacturers: watermarked or view-only proofs, a deposit that converts to credit against the order, and clean handoff of the source file only on payment. This exact pattern repeats across every trade that gives away spec work to win a job.

There is no comprehensive index of where a song has been used in film, television and advertising. People constantly recognise a track, know it was in something, and cannot find out which thing or in what context. Wikipedia covers some of it inconsistently. The ask is explicitly an IMDb-for-sync — the way IMDb lists every appearance of an actor, list every placement of a song, with context. There is a real business under the consumer curiosity, because sync licensing agents, music supervisors and publishers all maintain fragmented private versions of this data today.

Adults relearning mathematics from the ground up have the instruction problem solved and the practice problem wide open. Free video courses cover the teaching well, but there is nowhere to get large sets of practice problems organised by grade level, and textbooks cost money the audience often does not have. Khan Academy exists and is repeatedly bounced off by this cohort. The gap is a free, generous, grade-indexed problem bank with worked solutions, aimed at self-directed adult learners rather than school curricula — a category where generation cost has collapsed and nobody has shipped the obvious thing.

Agent platforms are shipping mobile clients that stop at conversation. You can see the agents that already exist in a channel, but you cannot easily discover one and add it to a new channel, inspect its status and permissions, or manage the team from your phone. The argument is that mobile should be the agent control plane rather than a remote client for a chat window: community-wide agent search, add member or agent, inspect status and permissions, manage the roster. As soon as an organisation runs more than a handful of agents, the fleet-management surface becomes the product and nobody has built it for a phone.

A popular consumer appliance has no aftermarket parts ecosystem despite an obvious failure mode: the water reservoir cracks on essentially every unit. Owners who like the product enough to own two of them describe nothing about it as high quality and say they would pay for a stainless replacement. This is the least fashionable idea on the list and possibly the most reliably profitable one — a single well-made replacement part for a device with a known, universal failure point, sold to an installed base that has already demonstrated willingness to buy the device twice.

There is no good agent harness built in Elixir, which is odd given how well the runtime fits the problem. Hot-code swapping allows a plugin system that reloads live without dropping state, a client-server architecture falls out of the actor model for free along with both IO and CPU concurrency, and built-in distribution makes it straightforward to isolate the brains (model and session) from the hands (sandbox and tools) — running the agentic session on your machine while agents execute inside Docker or on a remote node. All of this is buildable in other languages; in Elixir the building blocks are already part of the runtime. Several people independently confirmed they are quietly building exactly this, which usually means the category is real and undersupplied rather than empty for a reason.
